Design Process

It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; its the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time – David Allan Coe

Stage 1 – Questionnaire & Analysis

canstockphoto5320733We will speak to you about your property. We will find out what is on your property now and what you would like to achieve through this design process and eventually from the established property itself. We will do some soil testing and create a base map to add elements to.

I plant a lot of trees. I am a great believer in planting things for future generations. I loathe the now culture where you just live for today – Penelope Keith

Stage 2 – What Plants to Grow and Animals to Raise

canstockphoto15363229Choosing what you want to grow will depend on what you want to get from the Permaculture System. We will provide you with a selection of plant profiles from the list of plants you want to grow. We will also provide profiles on some common Animals raised in the Urban Permaculture setting. Animals are raised for manure, for protein, to assist in controlling pests and of course as  companions.

Do not go where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Stage 3 – The Concept

After developing a Base Map and discussing your requirements with you we will then develop 3 to 5 concept plans that include the elements you require. These are usually done as overlays on top of the original base map and are not intended to be the final design. You will have the option to choose an entire concept plan as the base for the final design or you can choose elements from each to be included in the final design.

It will also include overlays showing soil pH in various areas of the property, seasonal sun arcs, and other data.

Vision is not seeing things as they are but as they will be – Eric Smith

Stage 5 – Follow Up and Support

When we have completed your design we will help support the implementation of key elements and be on call for assistance and advice during the implementation for up to a period of 12 months or a total of 5 hours for the subscription fee. We can assist by arranging a Permablitz, recommending tradespeople as required or explaining elements of the plan that you need assistance with.
